About HungerCall

Building straightforward phone ordering for UK restaurants

HungerCall answers your restaurant’s phone when your team is busy, takes the order or the table booking, and gets it to the kitchen. We’re a young company, so this page sticks to what we can stand behind.

Why HungerCall exists

The phone rings when your hands are full

Anyone who has worked a busy service knows the moment. Tickets are stacking up, there’s a queue at the counter, and the phone starts to ring. Someone has to choose between the customer in front of them and the one on the line.

HungerCall is our answer to that moment. It picks up when your team can’t, takes the order or the table booking in a natural conversation, and gets it onto a kitchen ticket, so the phone stops competing with the counter.

It looks after your phone during your opening hours, and from 8am it can take pre-orders for when you open. Once you’ve closed for the night, it politely says so.

Our goal

Make restaurant service easier to run.

  • Picks up when your team is busy
  • Prices orders from your menu
  • Puts orders on a kitchen ticket

How we think about it

Four ideas the product is built around

Each of these describes something HungerCall does today. Where there’s a limit, we say so.

  1. Your price list sets the total

An order’s total is worked out by the system from your own price list, not guessed by the assistant. That one figure is what’s saved, texted to the customer, printed on the ticket and charged. The assistant can’t mark an order as paid, either: an online order only reaches your kitchen once the card payment is confirmed.

Good to knowCard customers see every charge itemised on their payment page before they pay, including a small online service charge.

  2. Sensitive calls stay with your people

If a caller mentions an allergy, it’s written on the kitchen ticket. If they ask whether a dish is safe for them, the agent doesn’t guess: HungerCall holds no allergen data, so the question goes to your team. Complaints are written up as a support case for your manager, and the agent is set up never to approve or promise a refund.

Good to knowCalls are put through to the number you choose in your settings. When you’re closed, or have paused orders, nobody is put through.

  3. You keep your own phone number

Your customers keep ringing the number they know. You divert calls to HungerCall when you choose: when your line is busy, when nobody answers, or for everything. We suggest starting with busy and no answer, so your staff take what they can and HungerCall answers the calls you divert to it.

Good to knowYour settings show the number to divert to and the standard divert codes for a landline. On a mobile or internet line, the divert is set in your provider’s app.

  4. Pricing you can check

It’s £49 a month plus small per-use charges, such as a charge for each order. Your dashboard’s billing page lists each call with its length and what it was charged, and shows the working, so you can check what you are charged.

Good to knowNuisance and silent calls are not charged.

How we work with restaurants

We set it up with you

A demo comes first. After that we do the set-up together, and you divert your phone when you’re ready.

  1. Start with a demo

Book a demo and we’ll show you how HungerCall takes an order and a table booking, and answer your questions. Prefer to write first? Email sales@hungercall.uk.

  2. We handle the set-up

Together we sort out your menu and prices, your HungerCall phone number and phone assistant, and connecting your kitchen printer. We’ll talk you through timings in the demo rather than promise a date on a web page.

  3. You divert your phone

You keep your own number and divert calls to HungerCall when you’re ready. Your dashboard settings show the number to use.
